La Paz, Mexico
It was a brisk morning as our friends Karla and Bob of Zig Zag crewed for us as we motored Night Flight to Port Pichilingue for the Dockwise Yacht Transport load on. We arrived at 7:00AM and checked in with the Dockwise 12 captain. Five other boats arrived and we waited for the load on instructions. The DYT, which was anchored out, got lower and lower in the water as water was added to the cargo bin. Around 8:30AM we were given the signal to enter the boat. Driving in was easy securing the boat was another issue. The DYT vessel is a Dutch flagged vessel. The crew is Dutch (captain, and load master), the line handlers Ukrainian and the divers Mexican. All of the boats loading on were with English speaking crew. So in other words four languages to translate between. We were positioned between two mega yachts; the one to our starboard side was a little $20 million dollar number. It was nice to have professional crew aboard both these vessels as they helped adjust lines and position fenders. The line handlers argued amongst themselves and there was a lot of yelling. |
