We're about 20 miles out of the Davis Channel from Eleuthera with a perfect day. Occasional clouds but nothing yet looking like convective action(at noon) with mid-seventies for the temp. At the moment we are motor sailing with a 10 knot breeze. virtually no chop or swell and should make the Exuma land and sea park about 3:30 local time. We are taking a mooring there since they discourage anchoring. We'll wait out the NW winds tomorrow and, if we are enjoying the place, may stay through Sunday to await another frontal passage before pushing on. The land and sea park puts us about 60 miles from Georgetown where we will meet with the Jessies for a couple weeks starting March 4.
The engine, water systems, and electrical systems are running fine here. With the front seal replacement the oil usage is barely discernible as it was before the belt failure and wrap. One issue that most cruising sailors run into has been the low RPM motor sailing or battery charging we have been doing the last couple weeks. We have been running for most all our hours at 1500-1800 RPM with the lower edge |
