New Bern, NC to Charleston, SC February 14 Ð February 16

Left New Bern on ValentineÕs Day after doing a GPS replacement install on the antenna pole. Bud and the crew from Northwest Creek threw off our dock lines at 10:30AM and wished us fair winds. After maneuvering the boat around the near channel markers we found the GPS worked just fine away from the dock indicating some interference around our slip. Gale took the helm as we motored through the Neuse River down to Beaufort. We exited the Beaufort Channel to the great Atlantic around 4:30PM. Seas were 1Õ-3Õ with light wind, of course, right on our nose. This was to be the weather pattern for the next 38 hours to the Charleston entry. We arrived at the Charleston City Marina at 10:30AM 48 hours after we left our Northwest Creek slip. We are enjoying Charleston having dined at some great restaurants including Joe Pasta, sidewalk dining on a 71 degree sunny afternoon. The Marina Seafood Restaurant Ð fabulous eggs benedict made with crab cakes rather than Canadian bacon. And best of all, the Coast seafood restaurant Ð hardwood smoked oven grilled fresh seafood with wonderful salsas.
