Half Way to the Bahamas

This is a quick note to let our friends know what S/V Night Flight with Ann, Michael, and Security Officer Boris aboard are up to. We left New Bern Valentine's day morning with Gale Biers as crew and have had a series of excellent outside passages so far down to Florida. We're presently motor-sailing south from Fernandina Beach, Florida to Cape Canaveral between weather systems. In the first quarter of this 24 hour leg, we've had seas less than 2 feet and light quartering NE winds for a smooth ride at about 7.5 knots. Our passages so far have been excellent if mostly driven by the engine and we hope this one will get us tucked away in Canaveral for a frontal passage late Monday night or Tuesday morning.

Charleston was great last weekend with warm weather and pleasant skies. There was a large wildlife exposition going on downtown and out by the marina that the entire crew including Boris enjoyed immensely. Both sites were within walking distance. We found a couple good restaurants downtown as well. We rode the next smooth sea day and night down to Fernandina Beach, Florida and
