Doing the ICW

We decided to tackle the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW) from Port Canaveral. Departed the marina around noon and locked thru to the Port Canaveral Barge Canal. About a half a dozen manatees exited the lock as we drove in. Lots of wild life spotted as we motored through the barge canal: a very large wild pig, a raccoon washing its lunch and varieties of birds. Had a very pleasant short motor trip down the ICW to Indian Harbor Beach where we anchored off Dragon Point, so named for a 100Õ long green dragon weighing an estimated 20 tons, named Annie. She is now laying helplessly half in and half out of the Banana River. We saw her proudly standing guard over the river entrance when we anchored here in 1988. She is now a sad symbol of her former self.

Motored on to Vero Beach on Friday. Decided that rather than fight the Ocean waves we would do the ICW down to Lake Worth; this will be our crossing point to the Bahamas. We are on a mooring ball at the Vero Beach Municipal Marina, a first class operation. Today we enjoyed a bus ride to
