The 2009 Sailing Adventure

February 6 Northwest Creek to Beaufort Anchorage
Night Flight with Ann, Michael, Boris and Gale departed Northwest Creek Marina at 11:52AM. We arrived at the Beaufort anchorage around 6:00PM after an uneventful motor down the Neuse River, across Pamlico Sound and down Adams Creek. The daytime temperature is still cool, but zippered inside the enclosure the sun heats the cockpit to toasty warm. In the evening the cold is kept a bay by the Webasto heater.

February 7 Beaufort Anchorage to Mile Hammock Bay
Well the best laid plans sometimes don't work out. The weather predictions of 1'-3' ocean waves was upgraded to 4'-7'. That is not a two day comfortable ocean sail especially when going around Cape Fear. Instead we opted to stay on the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW). The trip was a little more exciting today going aground twice and then getting stopped on the ICW at Camp Lejeune for two hours while the military conducted live munitions firings. We are now settled in anchored in the Camp Lejeune Mile Hammock Bay. Last time we were here the Ospreys hovered overhead; so far tonight there have only been a few helicopters overhead. Meanwhile Michael and Gale are playing Backgammon.
