Our latest adventure - The highs and lows of cruising:
Warm humid day and overcast until 2:30PM........black skies, lightening and pouring rain in the Lake Worth anchorage....wind gust to 52 knots.....dragging boats going in all directions including Night Flight.....Michael hand steering and motoring to keep Night Flight away from our neighbor......visibility zero......radar turned on to see the boats and shorelines.....bimini top soaked through with water dripping everywhere......hand wiping the vinyl widows to be able to see out......administering Calming Pills to Boris......after two hours the wind calms to 18 and our neighbors pull their anchor in so we can try to find our ours, we hoist anchor and reposition it a little farther to the side of our neighbor's boat and let out 90' of chain at 5:00PM. Lots of water in the dinghy, and oh, ...oh missing Boris' bowl. This not so light bowl was tossed off the back of the boat when the 52 knot gust hit and Night Flight heeled over.....the refrig door flew open, cabinets that weren't locked came ajar. . Our neighbor reported his boat did four 360s when the big gust hit; his two solar panels were bent over on their rigging dangling off the
