Thanksgiving Week in Mazatlan

We further explored Mazatlan with Stella and Lynn as we ventured into the historic district to view the European architecture, the Cathedral and experience a Sunday afternoon at the Plaza Machado. We stopped for a cerveza and some chips at one of the plaza's side walk cafes. The plaza was filled with families enjoying the music and Sunday dinner. Wednesday we headed back to the historic district with Mark and Karen on Topaz, but this time to find the Central Market and the shrimp ladies. Fresh shrimp is sold on the street out of huge tubs for $60 - $120 pesos per kilo depending on the shrimp size. Purchase the shrimp and then walk across the street to a restaurant that will cook them for you Ð fried, sautŽed, boiled. Pair this with some ice cold cerveza, warm tortillas, salsa and a variety of dips and it is a feast. Oh, did I mention the free roaming chickens in the restaurant. Thanksgiving was celebrated at Marina Mazatlan with a traditional dinner Ð turkey, cranberries, mashed potatoes, and pumpkin pie. There was a wonderful band that provided dance music.
