Saturday, December 10 - We joined Mark and Karen and took to the roads to explore some of the smaller villages outside of Mazatlan. We drove inland to Villa Union, Concordia and Copala; all within a two hour drive. Villa Union is a small village with a traditional plaza facing the Catholic Church. Small shops surrounded the plaza and families were busy shopping for Christmas presents. We lunched in Copala, a former silver mining town. Had a wonderful lunch overlooking the inland valley. Two beautiful German Shepherds reside here that reminded us of King. We visited the plaza and church. On the way back to Mazatlan we stopped at Concordia - another plaza, another church.
Sunday, December 11- Open Artists Studio Tour in the Centro Historico Districo. Organized by an Oakland artist, the tour involved thirteen studios. Most of the studios were typical artists' lofts, but Armando Nava's studio was in his beautiful home that was decorated with Victorian furniture and a magnificent Christmas tree. Coming down the stairs from the last studio loft, we spotted Lynn and Stella at a table at the plaza Ð of course, we had to stop. Enjoyed a quiet dinner and watched the |
